Understand Why HVAC Supply Chain Shortages Happen

Current supply chain shortages continue to happen because of a lack of steel, aluminum, plastics, copper, and semiconductors. Production timelines also slow down because of these shipment delays.

Essentially, we’re limited by equipment and materials.

Many that were previously stocked at local suppliers now require lead times. Other items that typically need 4-6 weeks of lead time might now require 4-6 months. 

For example, a commercial rooftop unit ordered in August used to take six weeks to manufacture and deliver.  The unit could be installed in October. Now, because of these shortages, it may be up to 25 weeks before the unit is manufactured.  The same unit ordered in August may not be installed until February.

Supply chain, manufacturing, and freight delays are factors we have no control over. And while these conditions continue to raise prices on several products, these issues are not specific to our industry.

1. Check and replace your air filters. We recommend checking for dust accumulation every 90 days (and sooner if you have pets or allergies). Clogged HVAC air filters are one of the most common causes of system failures. If dust and debris settle into your HVAC, proper airflow can’t circulate in your home or business. 2. Have a smart thermostat installed by a professional. If you want to increase energy efficiency and savings, buy a wi-fi-enabled and app-compatible unit. This way, you can remotely control the inside temperature using your smartphone. We recommend setting your thermostat to 68 degrees when occupied (and lowering your temperature by 10-12 degrees) when you’re away.
3. Test your system. Is it working the way it should? Take note of any unusual leaking, smells, or noises and report them to us during your maintenance appointment.
